  • Subwoofer box build - Alero

I'm working on some box designs for the Alero. I don't have the Alero to measure and I'd like to get
some feedback from other Alero/Grand Am owners.

I'm hoping to get something mocked up for this weekend. The Alero should be out of the shop soon

What I'm looking to build is a triple sub box (I have 2 10" MTX DVC and 1 12" MTX DVC). A bit
overkill but they sound nice anyway. And at moderate volumes they don't rattle everything a part.
The 10" provide responsive bass while the 12" just sound awesome in a vented enclosure.

I'm hoping I can get a bit more than 38" wide (but I believe that was the max width so I may have
to angle the box so it'll fit. Depth I believe is about 16". Height is what I'm not sure on. I read on
a forum that the highest height is 16". I thought this was a little bit higher, so if anyone can say
    otherwise, it's be very helpful.

I think the minimum I can work with is 40.5 width and 16.5in height. Anything less it'll have to be
angled in. Depth I'm not going to worry about too much. It's lame to loose so much cargo space
but that's what the backseat is for ;9

Each box will be a separate enclosure.

    10 Box volume: 1.45ft ea
    Vent: 19in 12/16 x 2in
    12 Box Volume: 2ft
    Vent: 16in x 2in

Not a easy fit and until I can get some absolute measurements I'm kind of stuck. I don't think I'll be
able to measure myself until Thursday or Friday. I want to start building Saturday.

Anyway, any advice on this project would be awesome. I've built a few enclosures over the years
    but nothing this tight.

Has anyone used seal and peel in replace of dynomat or fatmat (or whatever it's called?)

It's coming along. I haven't settled on precise depths yet since my friend and I ended up centering the holes. I think the 12" will be a little deeper than the
10's. However the volume is looking good to meet MTX's s recommended specifications for a vented enclosure. The vents haven't been cut yet since it
turned out we didn't have enough material.

The 12" is about six, close to 7 years old, so it's a bit rough in appearance but it still sounds good. By no means is it as clear as the 7500's.
