  • HELP! Can;t upload any pages! (Not Responding)

I have been tryin for four days to get online here. I feel like Indiana Jones walking thru the booby traps.tech@engineered.net by inserting my email address I get about
twenty more lines to type here. This took about an hour to figure out just how to post this. I can Post New Thread
but I can;t Reply To Thread. if I try to scroll down any page, it locks up. I get the "done, but with errors on
page" in the bottom left corner of IE. I get the "Internet Explorer Not Responding" message. I have to shut it down
and start over. All the pages are skewed, links are imaged over top of other text on the page. the pages run
on into other tiles, when I type in the reply box here, it keeps on typing unde the "smilies" to the right unless
I hit "enter" to return the cursor back to the left side of the box. Now I can;t scroll down to see the "submit"
button, so I have to click on an open space outside the message box to get the cursor "out there" and hit "enter"
for the submit function. This is crazy. I just thought maybe I'll try another browser. Anyone else having troubl
    with the new forums?

I do not think you are completely alone.
They are working on it from what I have read.
For now, try FireFoxx browser if you are able to.

If you are reading this, you probeably are using Firefox, which seems to work quite well.

Yes, Firefox is much more stable. I tried emailing you Jeff, but I'm not sure it went through. Try to upgrade your Java on your computer to see if that helps. That is one thing I found in my quest for figuring out issues. www.java.com then goto the downloads area and install the version appropriate for your OS. Keep providing feedback either here or via email (bszopi at 60degreev6.com) so I can try to get everyone up and running.

EDIT: I may just set this as default, and people can change it to their liking, but you might also try setting the theme to the vb default theme. This is available via a dropdown in the bottom left hand corner of the page.

Here is something I just found that I think is interesting... http://blogs.zdnet.com/web2explorer/?p=254

Interesting Slashdot thread started by Jeff Reifman, in which he claimed that IE7 was basically non-compliant with CSS web standards: he measured it as IE 52% compliance vs. Firefox 93%.
Considering the new vb software is basically rendered completely in CSS, that could be a reason why it is sucking so bad. Probably time to upgrade to IE8 (although its still not where FF and other browsers are), or just keep using FF. Honestly, the site looks completely different between IE and FF, and it is all due to how the browser renders the CSS information.

IE8 looks the same to me, and the chat bar is a little better on IE than firefox, but firefox is faster for pageloads.

On my screen, FF has sharper looking fonts too. EI fonts are a bit more rounded and not as crisp. I wouldn't think that were the case, but who knows why it looks like that.

If you look at the main forum page, mainly in the corners, you will see them rounded in FF, whereas IE doesn't have the ability to do that via CSS. Also on the main page, you will see a "drop shadow" in FF, and not in IE for the same reason. Sure, its little things. But, these elements can be changed to become more pronouced, and therefore have a more dramitic effect between different browsers.

Well, whatever you did, it's working just fine for me now using IE7. The fonts look just great, circa 2002. OK w/me! I downloaded IE8 on my wifes home desktop and got bombarded with all kinds of snot. Even got the "Anti-virus Pro" killer trojan which has rendered that PC just about useless. have not had the time to wipe it clean, that was last July.
