correct way according to my gm training is, unless directional tires; rear to fronts, fronts cross. Ex: left front to right rear, right front to left rear. but i personally just go front to rear, due to not liking the general rotation of the tires being switched which can cause shifted/separating belts in the tires.[SIGPIC]

This has been a well argumented debate even within GM for many years with engineers and experts.
Both sides with Valid points.
"Correct" procedure is doing via instructions of owners manual or service manual.
Some GM manuals state cross, some dont, some even seem to change from year to year lol.
Many are against changing the directional rotation of a tire wonce it has been in service. (Left sides on Right sides etc)
To make everyone happy (well except the customers paying or Lube/Tire grunts);
Rear Tires to front, Front tires Cross to Rear, however, you would need to remove tire from rim when crossing to keep the same directional rotation.
All for .2h lols.As of April 2

Most tires of a performance type you buy today ARE directional, so your telling me that you won't rotate your tires period if they are directional?
Not the best way to prevent quicker wear on the front tires if you ask me.

best way to rotate IMO is buy your tires from an authorized tire dealer, get their lifetime rotate(i work at a Goodyear and we throw that in for free with 4 new tires) and have them do it. that way, it's recorded and on time, that way if you ever have an issue and need to say, warranty a tire, you have proof that they were rotated correctly and on time

Wow all you smart people with so many valid points but not one of you mentioned the one thing that is most overlooked is WHEN. most cars and suv manufacturers say 12,000 km but the manuals in the cars are right when you buy the car new with the sticker in the door being correctly suited to the tire. I cant remember who said ask the tire shop is probalbly the best bet i think cause of new crazy tires with ratings far different than the stock tires. I also think the front to back is really smart. ive seen many people not rotate an have to buy 2 new tires instead of getting that much more life out of the four. oh just saw your post it was redbird. did you get your tires from goodyear?
