  • question about 3100's....

i know this may sound like a dummy question, but whats the difference between the 1995 Monte Carlo 3100 and the 1995 Grand Am 3100??? from what ive seen, they look damn near the same....i see they have the L67 3800 swap for the montes and headers for the montes....but no dice on the grand am. what gives?? i dont see many off the sensors and what not on the engines to be different. a dude i kno did the L67 swap in his monte, i wanted to do it in my 95 grand am gt.....ha...thats what i thought. everyone told me putting a 3800 in my car is next to impossible. i couldnt frankenstein a monte wiring harness into my harness somehow?? possibly using the grand am pcm or the monte pcm if needed. i just want to figure out why there are so many 95 monte 3100 parts and i dont see anything like that for the 95 grand am gt 3100. like i said-dummy question....i kno, but thanks to all that can help me figure this shit out. thanx......

#1 difference.... The Monte engine bay is huge compared to the GA engine bay.
#2 - The Monte was available from the factory with a 3800, therefore the swap is relatively straight forward.
#3 - Not only is the Monte engine bay bigger, but it is also laid out differently (ie, items like the steering rack come to mind), therefore headers that fit the Monte bay won't necessarily fit the GA bay.

To answer your question directly, yes the engines are indentical. But that is the least of your worries...

An L67 swap has been done at least twice in a 92-95 Grand Am that I'm aware of. No small task I'm sure.
