  • floor wet when raining/washing

first of all, I have ruled out the AC HEATER CORE DRAIN (AC does not work, and drain is clear), and if the windshield is leaking, I can't find out where.

I know someone had talked about this in a W-body before, but even after searching, the only thing I could find was a BERETTA.

Whenever it RAINS, or when I wash the car, the PASSENGER FLOOR of my 1995 Cutlass Supreme SL coupe gets wet. It will go back into the rear seat. In fact, after sitting for 4 months when I was getting parts together to fix the engine, I actually had really bad MOLD growing under a towel I had sitting in the rear floorboard.

Any idea where to check for this leak? I want to get it taken care of before I develope a rust problem.

All the caulk seams on the firewall, and in the cowl. EVERY seam get it good with a good neoprene caulk (I use roofing caulk). Silicone will peel off and not stick to dirty surfaces.. Youre gonna have to take out the carpet, get out the hose, and park on different angle slopes and hit it at every angle to verify. Also seal around the blower fan box, and if the sticky tac dum dum stuff around the plastic cowl is worn off, put new on, that prevents watter from rolling under the cowl cover and dripping into the fresh air vent thing, and dripping down on top of the carpet.

While the carpet is out, soap and hose it down well.

Good luck, it's a lot of work, but if you seal every seam and seal it good then when you go to test your success rate will be higher. I mean every seam, don't leave one exposed or you will be testing and then sealing some more. Seal everything. If one fails, they all will fail, and the tiniest hole will let TONS of water in. Trust me been there done that.

I went through this with the gold car, but it was in the trunk first, and then later one, when I replaced the rear window, it was the top of the window.

I found the windshield in the 92 is leaking. Mine is 5 inches from center on the passenger side. I got lucky one day while it was raining and caught the drop falling out of the corner of my eye. I had thought it was a side window because I saw no traces of the windshield leaking and the passenger side front floor board was soaking wet after I dug the car out after the last snow.

Check your spare tire well in your trunk and make sure it's not full of water. I had a trunk leak around the tail light (ok, there was no tail light in for a few months) in my old TGP and it saturated my carpet all the way up to the front seats.

My leak is only from the front, but I am no longer so sure that it is a leak. It rained this weekend, and no water got in the car. I think someone might have spilt something in there, and just didn't tell me.
