  • 12v Lighing, Inverters, Charge Controllers, etc.

The pickup I drive for work (2000 Dodge Dakota w. V6) has a big goofy canopy on it where I can sit out of the wind and weather when I need to splice fiber-optic cables. But, I need some better lighting in there and a power inverter (possibly a big one).

So, I'm looking for recommendations. Where can I get some LED light strips? Inverters? High-output alternator?

The main consumer is a heat gun, 1500W (there is some pretty massive glue-filled heat-shrink tubing involved, I need the heat). I know something like that will eat my battery quickly, so what is out there for charge controllers if I want to have (multiple?) deep cycle batteries in the mix? The heat gun only gets used for a short time, 5-10 min maybe.

To date I've been carrying around a 3500W gas generator. Little overkill and inconvenient, especially when I'm just using the fusion splicer which doesn't take a whole lot of power. I'm trying to get the 12v power module for it, but I'll just use an inverter if I'm not able to find one.
