  • web site help plz

any1 on here comfortable with html code that could help me with my 60v6 domain?

my skills are weak at best although i do have my moments of clarity...lol.

i would like to make my current domain not look so......novice and i would like to expand what i have on it now.

not expecting overnight miracles but any help would be appreciated.

Depends on what you want... I'm currently investigating a possible overhaul to the site (just want a better main page, and then link from there to the various areas), but I may be able to chime in hear and there.

it is broken down into sections

the home section needs help bad maybe some suggestions of stuff to add to it as well as doing something with that bad background. id like to have my logo somewhere in the front page though.

the my ride section i am happy with
what's new i am happy with

mods and specs needs help- better background and maybe a fancier way to present the info on there.

pics need a little help. it need to have the ability to do thumbnails and a fancier way to present the pix. that sldie show was nice. maybe that with red borders? http://josephupson.60degreev6.com/3900build/ --NVM i dled the simple viewer and will set it up--

the 2 coming soons, i'll cross that bridge when i get to it.

First download a web page editor. It functions a lot like MS word or a similar text editing program but features more web authoring tools of course. The reason I suggest this is for speed and editing ease. Tables are your best friend when doing layout. It lets you arrange graphics and text in any position on the page and with a "0" border they become invisible.

Go with a white or lighter colour background. It looks more professional and is easier to read. You will never see a corporate site with a black background. A black background remind me of porn and warez sites from the mid 90's.

I just added my second vehicle to my website and have info and specs quick specs on them displayed on the main page. Each section goes into more depth when you click on a link. I think it is a pretty good page. It gets comments all the time too. I even get e-mails from people overseas with questions on s-10's and 60 degree v6's.

Has frontpage got any better? It used to add a ton of crap to the code. Making hand editing hard and bloating the page causing slow downloads. I guess that doesn't matter now with high speed connections but still :P

Suggestions, make it easy on the eyes to read, fit in a window with minimal scrolling. Have consistency between the pages. Those back ground images are neat but try re-sizing them and putting them somewhere else if you want to use them. Perhaps just parts of them blended in somewhere, or on one side of the page where it won't get in the way, but keeping them to make each page different looking and fun...

doesnt add anything im using 2003

check out my site keep in miind im still finding a layout that i like. the background may be temporary i havent decided yet.
my site i was checking back and forth between my laptop and it fits pretty good on the laptop no side to side scrolling. well only when you click the full size pics, but the whole site is minimal up and down scrolling.
isaac i know what your saying about it adding tons of crap to the code i think thats the older versions

im gonna change my site on here too but one at a time. html makes me wanna kill people

geldartb: for your site make it so the main page doesn't horizontal scroll (too big of a pic there) and so the side bar doesn't either (or vertical scroll there) and it will be a lot more friendly. This laptop is 1024x768 which a lot of computers use. I always target that size as the smallest possible. (use to be 800x600).

Dear lord do NOT use frontpage... non-standard code that often times breaks on anything but IE sucks. Microsoft has discontinued Frontpage for a reason - it sucks!

                              If anything, use Dreamweaver.
