I have a friend that is having a car problem. She is 8 months pregnant, and can't really do this by herself.

She has a 1997 Aurora, and they drove through 8 inches of water and it died, and she lost some oil. The mecanic says to just junk the car, but will not tell her what is wrong with it. Just says the oil pan is cracked, but when she looked under there, she could not see anything wrong with it. I want to be sure the shop is not just taking her for a ride.

When they moved the car, they found a small piece of metal under the car and are telling her that her oil pan busted, but the piece that she showed me does not really look like oil pan to me. I will post pics of the broken piece at the end.

On top of this, the car is suppose to be at a FRIENDS house, but she says they have been avoiding her, and she is afraid that they had her car towed off.

She just need someone to go look at the car for her, and let her know what is wrong (if anything) and what it needs. She did say that after this happened, she tried to start it, but it wouldn't start, and she waited 20 minutes (mechanic said the STARTER GOT WET!!!!!) and she said it just sounded weak. The car has not been messed with since then, but it has only been sitting a week.

The car is about 35 miles away from her house, and she would like to get it back to her house, but said she is having a hard time finding a tow company that is not trying to rip her off.

    Thanks

Here are the pics of her car, and the piece that they are saying is part of her oil pan, or a head, or something

it is plausable that a piece of the oilpan broke off of an aurora engine. like the northstar's, they get HOT and driving in cold water with an all aluminum engine may cause that breakage.

I was talking to her today and she thinks it might be the pan, but she can't get to the car. She needs help getting someone to go look at it and confirm what it needs, and maybe help her get the car to her house.
