  • MG with 3400

Need vid/pics:P Anyway, onefastv6 (phil) and I went to dayton over the weekend so I could tune the minus 1 and an MG with a stock 3400 swapped in. The minus 1 had an O2 reading issue so that didn't work out too well, but I was able to get the MG tuned for idle and normal driving (other than some small issues) and adjusted the WOT to be close (on the rich side).

    wow.

Its a killerbv6 conversion using the TCE mounts so it looks amazing, and the power output of the 3400 with headers is just a little scary I can't wait to get it tuned on a wideband later on and get some track times. It kicks sideways on the 1-2, then a little on the 2-3. I hate guessing, but if thats not a 13 second car id be amazed.

I know, phil and I were hoping someone had one, cause it was certainly awesome to watch it come flying down the road. I got to ride in it while I was tuning and Dann got on it for a little bit, black smoke pouring out the exhaust. It was quick as a diesel:P

Hopefully in time there will be a few videos of the tuned conversions in the near future. It was surprising to see how quick these converted cars can be with a fairly stock engine.

The car was a 76 MGB if I recall correctly and had the killer bv6 tuned headers, magnaflow exhaust, electric water pump, no AC, billet front cover and a few other billet pieces that were needed to convert the 3400 to RWD.

Once the tune was ironed out for the car seemed to be very quick as Ben said it would kick sideways between shifts. It will be interesting to see how these conversion cars progress now that they have a rather stable tune to work with.

Ben & Phil... did you guys get to see the '62 Triumph TR3 run? Dann says it can be a real handful since it is so light and less rigid rigid than the MG. I will talk to Dann about getting some videos posted. He is very grateful for all of the help you guys provided.

60V6s are great swaps for these cars due to their size, weight and power output. With the newest mount setup there is no need to cut anything in the engine bay on a MG enabling the car to easily be returned to original if the owner wants.

Yes, after Ben flashed the chip and put it in the Triumph, Dann took Mark out for a spin. When he got in the car he said "this is a scary SOB, so I am going to take it easy" .... well you know Dann in the first 50 feet he was on it chirping 1 and 2.

I would like more info on this car as I'm building a 3.5l MGB and have an interest in talking about this. I'm planning at the 3rd stage of the build out to supercharge the engine to push it over 300 at the wheels so I also have an interest in the suspension mods that may have gone into this car.

Anyone have pics or further details?

Weird. I just saw a orange MG for sale near my house and was daydreaming about the possibility of swapping a 3.1 or 3.4 into it, then I saw this thread and realized my idea wasn't nearly as original as I thought.
