Not to say we were perfect however, one time I dropped the ball(sorta). Doin drills headed for the Gulf. The setup: One boiler running fore and aft, one main engine runnin for'ward, the other one back aft was down due to a drill that took it down. One TG("turbo" generator) fore and aft. I was talking to my supervisor(MMOW Machinst Mate of the Watch) cause I figured out what our next drill was. Next thing I know, Lights go out. AAAAHHHHH SHHIII***!!!
Well, they started the drill on back aft's TG, sucker goes down. WOOSH all the ships electrical load goes to my TG. Now that bad boy is about the size of a VW beetle on steroids, and let me tell you, it ripped itself from its rubber mountings and proceeded to try and walk away. Then the overload governor kicked in and shut it down. Next thing ya know, back afts boiler goes off line the electronic controls that control the boiler went offline, their UPS backup battery was dead, samething with the boiler for'ward. Ship goes dead in the water, litterally. We were at the mercy of the sea for like 3 hours. Luckily EDG that was so well maintained by the EN's, started up and we had lights. But when those lights came on the captain was standing in the control room and proceeded to chew everyones a** out like there was no tommorrow, and he especially gave me a *SPECIAL* tongue lashin.

USMC veteran. I was in the same time Ben was, he just gave us rides. I got to see lots of sand, lots of dark sky, lots of dark water. Most of the time I couldn't see where I was going, and just hoped that if I couldn't see them, then they couldn't see me either. A 10mm ended my career early. All the glory goes away when the bullets start flying. The brash brave ones that talk trash, lose all the BS when things get serious, they usually crack first.
Be smart, there are rules to combat.
Never drop your guard, not even when your visiting at home.
            Never attack an enemy un-armed.
never attack them from the front.
And above all else, don't attack them, get someone else to do it for you!

But seriously, anyone going out there, go navy or airforce, get out of that fucking dirt. And if you think you hear something that maybe sounded like a gun, your too late, stop thinking about and kiss the ground, then wonder what it was.

Ya, I'm a real blast to be around on july 4th and i do not like crowds.

But I would go over there again if they'd let me.

A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

                    Add another to their ranks!

Former FC2. Spent six in total, almost two in school, 1.5 on a DD, and a bit more than 2.5 on a CVN. If I had stayed on a tin can, I would've stayed in. Carriers are plagued with drama and politics, and I was on the newest one. That just compounds the problem. Met a lot of good people, and saw a load of places. The most memorable would have to be the Straits of Magellan. That place was like nothing else. I have a picture of the noon day sun, which is only a few degrees above the northern horizon.
What do you get when you cross a Poodle with a Pitbull?
A pissed off dog with a bad haircut, but I sure ain't gonna tell him that, are you?

                    Let's see if we can't stuff a 3.5 or 3.9 V6 in a Kia Rio!

Army 3 yrs active, AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter mechanic.
3 yrs active reserve, movment control specialist (had to pay for school).
I intend to go back after I complete my current degree, and put in the necessary time to retire from it. I didn't realize how privileged I was to be able to travel to the places I did. I enjoyed working on the birds and flying, I hated the training exercises though.

The picture is of my assigned aircraft in Korea, it was probably the most mission ready of the fleet (it didn't break down often). I'm very proud of my service career as I'm sure all of you are of yours.

Sounds like a winner, just make sure you finish the 3500 install. I'm courting a new contract with the reserves after 17yrs of freedom from the Army myself. $65k in student loan repayment, $400 per mo. for two days out of every month, I'll enter as an officer this go around, and after I finish school I'll go to active duty for another 5 digit chunk of student loan repayment and will only need about 15 yrs of service to retire with a nice pension. It will also help should I decide to go political.

It has been my intent all along, however the opportunity came about earlier than planned. Maybe I'll finally be able to stop hot rodding Fieros and get my dream car, 911 Turbo, then again the Shelby Cobra replicar is nice to.

I enjoyed my time in service and to this day it is still a major contributor to my character.

Oh yeah, I don't have kids or one of those wife thingies.

                                Do it man!
