  • Best aftermarket air filter?

I'm building a short ram air intake for my 3500 and was wondering whats the best flowing cone filter I can tip it with?

    K&N, AEM, etc.

Doesn't matter. They all suck in more dirt than a paper filter but they also outflow it. Why is it short ram? Its a tube with no "ram" properties at all. Its sucking in warm air which is probably worse than your stock setup. Go cold air through a fender or cowl or ram air setup through the hood.

There are filters that are made of steel mesh that supposedly flow the best but filter the least. Apexi cone-filters filter the best but might not be reuseable.

Is sucking more dirt into the engine worth an extra 3-5 HP? I personally will stick with the stock airbox. It has been proven stock Delco filters are the best for filtration.

better yet lets put an ionic breeze quatra on!

i figure if what ever is small enough to get past one of those cone filters it wont do much harm to the engine. i personally like the ones from autozone they have the outer and inner cones... i feel they let the air flow better with less turbulance. and they come in one of three primary colors! lol

yah, umm auto zone no....K&N xstream filters with the filter in the end, yes, or an S&B powerstack inverted cone. i like the K&N because it is proven over the years, just dont overoil it. they do make foam filters that are supposed to do the same thing, forget who makes them though

i still say Mr. Coffee FTW...decaf or regular
