  • 66 Volvo 122 owner looking for a good engine.

Figured I'd sign up and check out the place. I'm not a 60degree owner but I might be.
My wife has a 66 Volvo Amazon wagon that has a tired worn underpowered in the 1st place B20 engine. Not actually a bad engine but lacks torque I need as she wants an ATM swapped in. Not looking for tire shredding performance just a driver with the possibility of good gas mileage.

I like the idea of a compact engine that wont twist the car in half.
I saw the Opel sites love the 60 degree.
Possible to get 30mpg ?(after changing my 4.56 gears)

Carburated would be my 1st choice, I'm not sold just yet that EFI is worth the headache and costs involved.

    Where would one start?

with EFI or MFPI you can easly get 30+ MPG, who knows with some light mod's to give better MPG like a cam, EGR block off, cleaned up ports, and possibly a larger TB. i would start with finding a price of the parts/engine you want to put in, most of us will tell you to use a FWD block, pending on space you have a few options for the accessories, next you have to decide on what trans you want in there, from all that i remember a 96+ 4L60E has a swappable bell housing and trouqe converter, but i recall Dave has a 700r4? if you have a wrecker close by then you should be set with most of the swap parts that you need for cheap. there is a START.

    Its runs!!!>>>Aint No 60* Sound Like Mehttp://youtu.be/YKEmNwa141U

Thanks, I'm thinking it would make sence to find a donor car. I like the aluminum head for weight advantage plus from what I've read they flow better. I want it simple as possible.
