  • The WZ3500, Yup I said it......

Well since some now know since I popped by at the DRJ opener in Whitby I will get some pics and info up.

Real quick note and will drop it; this was not the build my son and I were planning, twas to be turbo'd as well but, with the theft incedent, we just went NA. (for now)

I must thank Andrew at Carcones, from Aurora Ont. I went online in search of a low mileage motor.
Found this one with 11K only Emailed Carcones and then talked to Andrew.
Told him what it was for and what I needed. I had asked him to leave as many connectors etc on the engine as possible.
Well she turned up the next day with EVERYTHING!! I mean complete harness right to PCM and UBEC!.
Great Price and AWESOME to deal with!!!

I have more pics on my Camera, but will start with the Cell phone pics first.

Engine clean up (not too much to do) and my son trying his hand at polishing.

    .

    .

    .

    Polish engine mount bracket

TCE Crank trigger that is needed for the 7X reference not on the 3500

The main difference between the 3400 and the 3500 is not the displacement, it is the design of the heads/intake and manifolds!!
    Stock 200+ Hp
All out ported 3800 heads still do not flow as well as stock 3500

65mm TCE Throttle body to match the 65mm intake and flow

    Side by side comparison

TCE Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and GTP Injectors

Of course we needed a better clutch so Bully 4 puck was installed

    .

As well need more fuel flow so a Walbro pump installed

    .

Lower engine mount made up and welded.

and some final touches and clean ups

Some how I ended up with the wrong trans lol, had one for Eco and not 2200 grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, my son and I spent a week cleaning and sanding and painting it, just to have to get a different one

April1 10:30 pm, Darren cam by and we had engine out with in a few hours.

Buy 2pm Friday, I was about to mate up engine and trans to find out wrong bellhousing lol.

Darren located one and I sent him and my son out to retrieve it. (gave me about 5 hours to clear and clear coat every bolt I could find, I have a clear coat addiction, just ask Darren lol, even subframe bolts were cleaned and polished and cleared.

Here she is in the engine bay

Not sure if there is many other 3rd Gen J with a 3500 in it?
Pics and links would be cool if you have any.

One thing I actually really impressed with, NO WARNING LIGHTS
All bulbs in cluster work but non illuminate.
I kept ALL accessories including Airbags/Abs/Traction/Egr/EVap and even the Rear HO2S.
Only codes Deleted were Trans and Passlock.

      Using a 2001 Imp 3400 Pcm

      And for FUN
Lol, here is a pic of the GM Tech2 after I have been programming

any reason why you went with those exhaust manifolds? i think the malibus got the better ones... not sure about fitment though.

        otherwise, quite a damn project.

The only down side I see is unequal length axles. Other than that, that baby looks factory in there. Nice clean job on the install, man

Did you adjust the injector constant for the larger injectors?

That axle support looks out of adjustment... the axle is not coming out straight of the trans... The 3500 needs adjusting compared to bolting to the 3400 in that spot. Make sure that's aligned well.

The LX9 3500 (what you have) is 200 hp. The VVT one is the 220hp one.. Still in a J body that's like 2600lbs or something like that so it will haul ass. I can't wait until I get my house so I can put my cammed/headered/high-compression/3400-3500 in my orange car. I'm running a 92 282 getrag in that.

Ya, I made a mistake (so many nimbers going through my head) 200 not 220hp
I adjusted for the larger injectors, but they are pretty big for the moment, at WOT I max them @30%
But I am getting the tune there.
I spent quite some time measuring the axles, the pic doesn't do it justice.
The Trans is also in stock position.

Thanx guyz, she is a work in progresss for sure.
