Few may be familiar with me, after my several long and inquisitive posts.
I live near Pittsburgh PA. I use to hate it here, now it's home after 13 years. I lived in Va. Beach prior. Man, they were some good times down there. Come tourist season it was easy pray hunting out the 18-20 year old tourist daughters. The game was on, most had a boyfriend at home but I found they were the ones that were quicker to lay down. Ahhh, I'm getting old....
I always loved working on cars since I was 13. I had a buddy, James Staton, wonder well the heck he is, we both loved to work on our measly 2-strokers. At age of 15 we both had mopeds and we would strip the engines down to the last bolt and cylinder ring. Cheapo 2-cycles but we had them running smooth as ever. A well oiled machine no matter how large or small was a pleasant sight/sound.
Now I have a wife and two great kids. My family is the best as I was so blessed there. i was very unfortunate at the age of 28 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. I beat it and am cured but the 9 months of treatments beat the crap out of. Even today I'm still healing from it all. I had to ditch my career as a painter, was making really good money. My wife and I decided she would work while I take care of the kids and go to school.
Now my aim is to get into the professional auto industry specializing in high performance and electronics. I consider my self a strange type, I have a lot of knowledge about the internal combustion engine yet I can be ignorant to some very basic concepts.
Tried to join Mensa and I barely didn't make it. Like 1 test answer away. I'll try again later. So I am an 'Almost Mensa'...lol. So don't be surprized if I post some off the wall crazy stuff. Like my sound wave pressure idea few may have read about.
Right now I am deep into my turbocharger project. I'm dumping about $4,000.00 into my car to turn it around. 1996 Grand Prix SE, I love it and I hate it. It has a 3100v6 from a 95-96 Beretta. The body is around 100k but the block is at 50k. This project is a little more then just a turbo. It involves a full scale maintenance routine, new paint job, interior rebuild and a few other odds and ends. All done myself of course.
This car is going to symbolize most of my life earned knowledge and will serve as an example for the auto school I choose. I'm shooting high here, no simple auto school.
We'll see how it goes. So far you guys have been a great help with the few unknowns I have encountered so far.
The budget/plan is near complete. Soon the purchasing and gather stage will begin. By early Feb. I plan on constructing/welding phase to begin.
Got to run, take care everyone!
