  • Transmissions for the 96 Olds cutlass 3.4L DOHC

Just curious if the 4T85HD Trans out of the 3.8 ssei would bolt up to the 3.4L Dohc, if not what would?

no FWD 3.8 got anything tougher than a 4t65e-HD...
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

4t65-eHD should hold up, or if you really want to make your car heavy, 4T80-E from the caddy's.... (not sure about the bolt pattern)

        Or a getrag 284/282 5spd...

It does. The 60V6s and 3800 share the same bolt pattern.

4t80e has a slightly different bolt pattern, but they are damn near indestructible. so if it's necessary, it may be the only option.

the 300lbs of torque a NS makes in a heavy ass car seems like punishment to me.

it would be a cakewalk for L/J/N bodies. W is a bit closer to most caddies, but still...

A 4T65-HD will bolt up fine to the engine. LQ1 cars use a different tranny mount so I'm not sure if it can be bolted to the engine cradle. Also I think the axles won't fit in a 1st gen hub though. It's electronics are also way different, so your LQ1 PCM won't be able to control it.

It's found in anything with a Series II or III Supercharged 3800. Regal GS, Grand Prix GTP, Park Avenue Ultra, Monte SS Supercharged are the ones I can think of.

if you have the ability to tune it, you can stick the PCM from a 97 3.4 in it. those work with 4t65-e and 4t65-e HD...

why exactly are the trannies dying?
