Just curious if the 4T85HD Trans out of the 3.8 ssei would bolt up to the 3.4L Dohc, if not what would?

4t65-eHD should hold up, or if you really want to make your car heavy, 4T80-E from the caddy's.... (not sure about the bolt pattern)

the 300lbs of torque a NS makes in a heavy ass car seems like punishment to me.
it would be a cakewalk for L/J/N bodies. W is a bit closer to most caddies, but still...Comment

A 4T65-HD will bolt up fine to the engine. LQ1 cars use a different tranny mount so I'm not sure if it can be bolted to the engine cradle. Also I think the axles won't fit in a 1st gen hub though. It's electronics are also way different, so your LQ1 PCM won't be able to control it.Originally posted by Incydowt View Post

I have a 96 olds Cutlass supreme, 3.4L DOHC and would like to basically know what besides the 4t60e works, I am about done with my second trans in less than 30,000 miles, I NEED something that can take the abuse and isnt that hard to convertComment

if you have the ability to tune it, you can stick the PCM from a 97 3.4 in it. those work with 4t65-e and 4t65-e HD...
