well, i got the lim of of the 96 on after a little gasket drama. i was mock fitting the uim, and that port in the rear valve cover interfers with the uim bad. i took a hack saw to the port and the uim still isn't flush(the raised spot ehere the port goes still interfers by a few millimeters). i would have to grind it down and maybe fill it in, depending on the thickness of the valve cover.

i am going back to the yard this weekend and get the 96 valve cover and maybe put a port in it somewhere. and be4 i put the 96 rail on i will(just for shits and giggles) also try to fit the 94 fual rail on just to see if it can be done.
i think if i just cut and bend the 4 mounting brackets and it would fit. but i will have definate results by this weekend.

so word to any1 else if u do a 96 swap get the 96 rear valve cover!!!

I just ground down the cover with a file. Didnt need to remove all that much, it only had contact around where the spicket for the breather used to be. The 96 valve cover would make things easier and be the cleaner way to do it.

Use the 96 rail. It's a better rail to begin with. The only problem I could see with it is that the fuel lines may not be compatible. I know the fittings and lines changed more than once over the years so the 94 and 96 stuff might mate up for all I know, but I ended up splicing the metal fuel lines that feed the rail with the 91 lines using fuel injection hose. Rather than replacing the entire fuel line with the 96 style. The fuel injection hose has been holding up with no problems so far. If you do end up splicing MAKE SURE you use FUEL INJECTION HOSE and not regular fuel hose.

well, i have the final results. the 94 rails will not fit the 96 intake. when i was doing a mock up i was just using the uim and not the tb neck part of it. the pressure reg and stuff interfere with the neck of the uim.

also have bad news i am scrapping this project today i used the wrong bolts to attach my fuel rail to the lim and they were too long. and i put a crack in it.

i don't have the rescources to have it repaired. and i can forsee vacuum leaks if i use it. the machine shop says 50 bucks an hour which is less than most garages. but i don't have the $$$ for it.

A note on the fuel hose, also check it often, as in every time you check your oil. One of my fuel lines (the feed line I think) on the 91 got fuct up when the 5 speed got put in. Used some rubber line (can't remember if it was FI hose or not) and I think the heat from the cross over pipe killed it. I ended up getting a hose from a 3.1 Lumina at the JY to replace my temp. fix. Anyways the hose was shot bad. Cracked and fraying pretty bad. I moved it and it sprung a leak it was so brittle.

Sux that something like that has to ruin it. How bad is the crack and where is it? You *might* be able to squeek by with jb weld. It would at least be worth a try before dumping the whole project.

on the outside it kooks bad. the crack is in the left front bolt hole for the fuel rail.
on the inside it doesn't look as bad. the crack appears in 2 of the ports. it start at the top of the pors and goes to the divider of the other port. at the top it is kind of bad. the other port it starts in the middle and goes almost to the top of the port.
my vac leak would come from the 1st port i talked about at the top.

i was thinking about that. pouring some weld in the bolt hole and putting a shorter bolt in it to push the weld into the crack. but i don't know about that. that sounds like a den of problems later.

instead i am going to try and sell it or throw it away and look for another lim and in the meantime i will just put my original intake back on. cause if i find the parts it would only take about 25 min to pull the original uim and lim off now.

does any1 have a 96 lim out there? also i am looking to sell or trade my lim. 10 bucks.
