Just a thought, the bellhousing of a 4T80 has the same bolt pattern of a 4T60. Therefore, the bellhousing of a getrag 282 for the 3.1L has the same bolt pattern as a 4.0L V-8 Olds motor. I need a flywheel for an Olds V-8 4.0L. Any ideas? Also, I need a custom Throttle body, and I wonder if Ben will do the heads for this for me? Now I just need to shoe horn it into my Achieva.....Motor arrives tues...
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

SPEC makes an aluminum flywheel for the Northstar/Aurora so you can use it with a 282. It was made for us Fiero guys so you should be able to find it listed under Fiero.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!! DUDE YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! THX BRO!!!

I have been pulling my hair out! Now, any word on pistons or cams? And then for that matter a programmable ECU? I found Federal Mogul rod and main bearing, wish I had a better brand, and I found speed pro rings, also wishing for a better brand....

Now, I do want to supercharge this, someone mentioned a M112 blower. How do I figure out how much compression I should drop if I custom order pistons, and tool steel pins, and for that matter how do i figure out how much to drop the top ring to strengthen the head of the piston for the blower app? And should I be figuring in offsetting the wrist pin in the piston for this too? Or is that way too much engineering and I should go to school?

CHRFab (www.chrfab.com) makes cams for the Northstar/Aurora. Look at their web site. They have other stuff too.
For the ECM, look at the Delphi MEFI-4. There is code available for it that should run the Aurora. There are other ECUs out there but they are insanely expensive.

I checked out chrfab, wow nice part selection for the aurora motor. They seem to really like that holley commander 950 ecu. I ran one in a probe I had a while back....

Now, I just hope my 282 will stay together long enough to run her done the track a few times..... maybe i should look into a 284?

          This puppy gonna fly!

I wouldn't bother with a 284. A properly built 282 will hold up just fine with that motor. They aren't too happy about shifting above 7000 RPM though..

Yeah as long as you don't abuse it the 282 with a strong clutch will treat you fine. 250hp motor will be fine with it.

Will the 4.0l fit in the achieva? What body is it? W?

Wowzers thats gonna be a tight fit then. About the same room as an L body, and that wont fit a 3.4l TDC...

250 HORSE!!!!???!!!!! Isaac! Bite your tongue! This is an Oldsmobile! It makes REAL power and torque! Unlike those cheap bowtie motors. :P I going 450 at the wheels or nothing! I should be able to get that naturally aspirated, they got 575 out of one with a huge blower, I should be able to break 450 natural. No dope.
