  • What S/C fits my 1991 Z34 lumina

I have a 1991 chevy Z34 lumina...nice car. now my dream is to put a super charger on there...yea yea some may laugh but i love this car and anything i can do to make it faster ...i want to do. So if anyone reading this can tell me what supercharger is best for my motor and where i can purchase a reliable one, it would be much apreciated.
    thanks!

Nothing is a direct bolt-on. All will require extensive custom modification to work. With that said, what is your budget?

Turbo it. much easier then making a S/C kit. on 5-6psi i made 91hp over my baseline.... ~260hp/270tq to the wheels. TimG is making 325hp/350tq on 10psi with his.

Im gunna be converting to C100 (1996 Computer) and swapn injectors to tune it. I believe she's running lean on the stock injectors but so far so good and beating it daily for over a year.... Except for a blown diff.. Price i have to pay for a smile on my face.

my old TGP had a big T25 (oxymoron?) turbo on the 3.1MPFI motor and i could power brake it and have ~8-9psi before i even left the line and peaked 10psi. so if you use the right turbo setup you can gain power everywhere. On a DOHC i would say a big T3/T4 would be the smallest i would go. it will give you better low/mid range power. my T4 would be great at sea level but its laggy at 5000ft altitude. no problems in over a year and 30K miles boosted...

Custom x-over/downpipe and charge pipes and your boosted (for the most part) like so... (my car)

You should give a list of what all is needed to install a turbo on this 3.4 DOHC.

What does a person need on there shopping list to be up and running?

There are a few of us with supercharged or turbocharged 3.4's. It's not easy or cheap. At a minimum for a VERY basic turbo setup you need:

Turbo, wagtegate, all intake and exhaust piping, silicone couplers, hose clamps, a new air filter, oil feed and return lines, a downpipe, a wastegate dump tube, lots of little hoses and fittings, a FMU, and a various gaskets and other parts that I'm forgetting.

Looking at that turbo instal gave me wood. One question, how does it affect the longeviety of the motor?

                      FMU??

Where have ones been attaching the oil feed and return lines?

You need a different Map sensor to run boost and I suppose a different chip program.

Ben, Can you help with a chip for a turbo on a 3.4 dohc?????

A different MAP sensor and chip are not necessary for a basic kit. He can use either a MAP clamp or a check valve before the MAP sensor. The FMU will take care of fueling under boost. For ignition, you're assuming that the factory left some safety margin, you're running better fuel, and that you are running low boost.

My feed line for the FMU came from the fuel rail and the return went straight back into the stock aluminum return line.

I turbo'd my motor at 120k miles. It now has 165k miles and still runs strong. It is definitely loosened up though. The transmission is what you will have to worry about.
