I know this topic has been beaten to death- But I can't open the link that is specifically addressing the timing belt replacement on the 3.4L DOHC (page is unavailable?).
I have a 95' Cutlass with 85K miles and the belt is totally shredded. I can only hope my son wasn't flogging the motor when it happened.
I need to replace the belt this weekend and I am lining up the belt, idlers and tension assemblies.
I am just looking for any tips/advice on how to do this quickly and effeciently without having to take apart more than I have to. I will replace the valve cover and front cover gaskets as well. Can anyone tell me which parts are best (GM, Gates etc)? If GM is the way to go, can anyone give me the part number(s)?
Also, I don't plan on buying the cam holder tool for this one time procedure- What advice can anyone give me on how to line everything up correctly? I can fabricate a crude device if required, but I would like to get this done quickly.
Any suggestions, advice or links would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you-
Elm
