92 Z34 rack cooler lines

I have to replace the longest pressure cooler line which is located right on the rack itself. I can see both ends but I can't fit a flare wrench on either end because there isn't any room. The manual says to unhook the intermediate shft bolt, both tie rod ends, and lower the subframe 3 inches.

Can I lower the subframe 3 inches without unhooking the tie rods and intermediate bolt?

you can lower the subframe without removing the tie rods. i've done it without removing the intermediate shaft bolt but it only comes down so far(not 3 inches, more like an inch) because the collapsible intermediate shaft is so short to begin with.
