easy way to check cam timing?

Is there an easy way to verify the cam timing on a 1996 3.4L such as a scan tool or is it all visual requiring removal of the camshaft covers? My GTP is still giving problems and I'm not convinced that the timing is correct.

One thing you could try but its not realy effective is a timeing light. You need to have tdc marks on the front cams and the housing for this to work. Put the timeing light lead on the #1 wire. Wach the mark and dont be surprised if its 10deg off. If you rev it you will lose track of the mark do to a ignition type.
