  • 1992 injector wiring question

I have a question about the injector control by the ECM (9396). My understanding has been that the injectors are batch fired (2,4,6 and 1,3,5) up to about 2500 rpm and then switches to continuous fire above that. However, I find that the two ECM connections (D3 and D9) merge together and a single wire controls all six injectors. What gives?
    Thanks.

The 91 to 93 engines use batch fire that fires all 6 at one time. The 94 up uses sequential fire, but switches to batch fire at a certainn RPM but I cant remember right now.

It is a common misconception that since it's called "batch fire" that the injectors would fire in banks like you mentioned. But in fact, it is just like you discovered... The injector signals from the ECM tie together out of the ECM then split back up when they meet the injectors. Why GM did this, who knows...

My Fiero 2.8 uses two ECM outputs and they do indeed control their own injectors, 2,4,6 and 1,3,5. Could this be done on the LQ1?
