the book says to clean the block deck with laquor thinner or acetone prior to gasket to head install. Can I just clean it with deisel?

the block was cleaned at the machine shop, but I put a light coat of oil on exposed metal surfaces. I assume that the deck needs to be clean and dry, maybe just a shop rag will do the trick.

pistons went in without a hitch.

    RE: head install

The laquer thinner or acetone will evaporate, leaving the block surface clean. The deisel will leave behind an oily residue, which will hurt gasket sealing. I just use brake cleaner....it works the same as the thinner or acetone.
