  • Question : No compression on a cylinder after a tire blew out

I have a 95' Monte Carlo Z34 with the 3.4 DOHC. The other night my left front tire blew out. After I stopped the car I noticed that the engine had died. So I attempted to start it so that I could pull it off the side of the road. Nothing the starter just clanked.

Got it home, and put a 1/4" ratchet with a long breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt. Finally got the engine to turn after a bit of wiggling. The engine now turns over, but with a slight knock. So I took the front three spark plugs out, and noticed I was not getting any compression on the right hand cylinder.

    All the fluids are good.

What could have caused this to happen?

Does it run the way it sits right now? If so, does it build compression on that cylinder at all, or just not enough to fire? Does putting some oil in that cylinder help it build compression at all? If it doesn't run right now, was the engine at high rpms when the tire blew?
