  • Timing Belt on a 96

    Hello,

I have a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4 DOHC, and I just purchased a 1996 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4L DOHC V6 that the timing belt broke on. When I popped the hood today and took a closer look it appears as though the intake manifold is different from my 95 and the coil packs are on top of the engine instead of underneath. Is the timing belt R&R the same on both engines or do i need to do something different on the 1996? Also the timing belt hydraulic tensioner (the one you put the pin into the back of) is what broke. Yet I look all over online and there is no listing for that part. Does anyone know where i can get that cheap, and what the part number is? Its not the pulley i am looking for but the hydraulic arm.

    Thanks,

    Dan

The procedure is the same, the only difference is how you go about removing the UIM. Check ebay, www.gmpartsdirect.com or better yet, www.rockauto.com for the tensioner actuator.

I remember the part number to be in the timing belt walk through which for some reason i can't seem to find. Does anyone know the rock auto part number?
