  • Question : Injector harness wire

I just finished putting everything back together on my 3100 in my '97 Grand Am, and I have one wire/plug coming off of my injector wire harness and I don't know where it goes. Its a 2 pin male plug with a blue boot/sleeve thing and it comes out from under my upperintake on the transmision side of the motor. Thanks for any help, if you need any more info let me know.

if you post the wire colors and maybe a pic, i can try and match it in alldata. there can't be too many things that could possibly be on the injector harness though.

The wires are one white and one black. Here are some pictures:

if i didn't know any better, i would say that might be the second plug of the ignition control module... it uses a 2-pin connector like that and has at least 1 white wire running into it. not sure about the other one though.

I'm pretty sure your right and that is the ignition control modul plug, but if thats the case then, I have a plug/wire that looks exactly the same only has one orange wire and one black wire and comes out of the harness that has my alternator plug and I don't know were that one goes because I had it plugged in to the ignition module and it is wrong. So were would the one thats near the alternator go?

do you have a connector base on your power steering pump? if so, that would be the EVO connector...

I'm not sure what you mean by connector base. But there does not apear to be any plugs, connectors, or otherwise on my powersteering pump if thats what your asking.

                there goes that theory...

some cars had pumps that used a connector that opened and closed an orifice to change steering feel depending on MPH...

Is it possible that the harness is configured for that type of powersteering pump and my car is not equiped with it or it has been changed and therefore that plug is no longer needed? ...or what else could it be?

that is very possible. my car has a bunch of unused plugs due to it being completely optionless...

So I took off the upper-intake to try and route that plug over to the ignition module and it just does not seem right, I'm going to have to cut alot of electrical tape and pul it from the cover just to get it to reach and it will still be a stretch, so it does not seem like that wire goes to the ignition module after all. Looks like I might be back to square one. Any help or wiring diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it all out. There are 3 of the exact same conector on the motor. The one that comes out of the alternator area goes to the left side of the ignition module, the one on the end of the injector harness goes to the water temp sensor, and finally the last one plugs in to the right side of the ignition module and connects to the crank shaft sensor. Hopefully this will help anyone having trouble. Thanks for all your help.

I was going to ask if the wire in it is twisted. The one from the crank position sensor to the ignition module is twisted like network cable to reject noise.
