But lets start from the beginning. Last night I was driving to the library to drop off some DVD's when I was about 3 blocks away I shifted from 2nd to 3rd the lever moved with no resistance(its a getrag 284). I was stuck in 2nd gear so I made it to the library and got a ride home with a friend. Went back with some tools to see what I could do. Well the shifting linkage came off too the point I could not just slip it back on. So I drove it home doing 30 mph in 2nd gear. Walked down to Josh's house to see if he could help me. He agreed to help me the next day in the afternoon. So today I walk down to is house(3 blocks away) and showed him on is car what happened to mine. then we went to the hardware store. Where he came up with using 2 rubber grommets a fender washer and a c clip. Well it worked great to the point that my shifter feels tighter then it did before. My point in all of this is to say Josh you are one of the nicest guy I have ever met. I've attach the pic of the repair.
