on the right side of the engine bay, under the electrical center where all the fuses at, there is a unit that somewhat looks like a cinnamon roll about 5 inches in diamiter with a long 2in. hose connected to it that goes on back toward the rear of the right side of engine...oh yeah its on a 91' GrandPrix 3.4liter, auto.

you probably have one of the few lq1 motors that have a cooling fan for the alternator that there was so much debate on CGP about since most cars don't have it.

My 91 had it. I ripped it out when we did the 5 speed swap because the donor car was a 92, and the rubber duct weighs less then that fan. The fan was a 2 inch wide squirrel cage type IIRC. I might still have it sitting around here somewhere. If I do, I'll be sure to take a pic of it for future reference.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

If you manage to snag the rubber duct work off a 92+ car, drop it like a bad habit. The ducting weighs less then that fan and duct work. Not to mention it's less of a load on the alternator/battery.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.
