i recently bought a 1996 pontiac grad prix special edition gt with the 3400 motor in it and as luck would have it the timing belt snaped. i know the cams are out of time and i got the crank in time i was wondering how to find the marks on the cam gears to time the car how to time the motor. any help will be greatly appreicated

There are no marks on the cam gears to time them. The way to time them is to take the small covers off the top of the cylinder heads (actually the cam carriers) and use a tool to align the flats on the cams and hold them in place. It's a semi in depth job, you need to remove the intake to get to the rear head. You can make the tools yourself, i used 1/4" flat steel and some steel tube from Lowe's. You can search the site on how to do your timing, theres a write up here somewhere.
