  • fun fun fun with the z-34, sorry this is a book.

hey hows it going, this is my first post on this forum but i have been reading for some time now.

I've had the car since july last year and its been a blast when it runs good, but the last week has been complete hell. I had a bad starter, so i thought ok I'll change that today or just get it started. It took me 4 hours to just get it out because of the tight fit. i get it out and find that a quarter of the flywheel gear teeth are chewed because of the starter or maybe the flywheel is lose another fun project anyone that has to change the starter drain the oil and pull off the oil filter first it will save you two and a half headaces. That night i take the starter to autozone and buy another one to avoid the core. And i pick up a map sensor also cause i think it is bad due to misfire and engine codes. Next day after work i go and start the map sensor thinking it will be quick and i was wrong. The line to the fuel pressure regulator has been cut near the map sensor, and the hose to the hvac/cruise is gone. I tried to lift the line to the FPR just enough put a hose over it and connect the two pieces together again and it falls out from the FPR. yeah, so i had to pull the intake off just to put the hose back in. put the intake and the map sensor back together again minus the hvac, and hope that it will stop the missfire. I go back to the starter to put it back in and it takes another 3 hours to do and then i had to cut a notch out of the flywheel inspection cover to fit it back in again, i dont know if it was a good idea or not but it saved me three more hours of struggle so i dont care , and the notch was small. the car starts ans runs but the missfire is still there i plugged the hvac hole with an ear plug . i was going to fix it but i cant find where it goes to. if anyone knows this it would be great to find it, thanks. any advice on this topic is welcome.

The HVAC line runs behind the plenum (above the plug wires), behind the TB, and down about 6" to a "T" fitting where it then goes to the cruise module and vaccum ball in the fender. It's a pretty thin line, I broke mine two winters ago when I ran TEC through my motor in February.
