  • Head Gasket Question

What is the difference between a "Head Gasket" and an "Engine Cylinder Head Gasket"?
Is there a preferred type gasket to buy, like new and improved?
Should I only buy it from the dealer?
It takes millions of questions to do it right!

if you go to the dealer you can get an entire engine gasket kit, comes with head gaskets(good ones), cam carrier gaskets, cam cover gaskets, all intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, valve seals, pretty much all the top end gaskets needed to do a head gasket job, its like $500 but well worth it, honestly that is your best bet, and the gaskets are top quality, trust me you dont want to cheap out on gaskets on this motor, even if you just get the head gaskets get them from the dealer , they are $50 each.

      Thanks for the reply.
I already bought all the gaskets I'll need for the intake and timing belt work (I think). I will get the head gasket(s) from the dealer.
As I'm only replacing the head gasket to get to the oil pump drive seal, is it O.k. to just replace the rear? Or should they be replaced in pairs?
Should I go to the dealer for all parts for this engine, like that short TB coolant hose?
      TIA,

might as well get them all from the dealer , nothing compares, and as for that short hose, just use a short piece of heater hose, thats all it is.
