  • broken or not???

    got to looking at the alternator mounts on the engine i have and the lower bolt hole looks broke to me but i just want to make sure it really is. heres a pic.


    is it broke???

    yep, it is supposed to be in a shape of a U.

      Just looked at my pics I had of when my engine was out. You can't really tell, but if you really look at it you can tell it is supposed to have a U shape.

      So it isn't broken.

        Cant you tell if the metal has been broken?
        If it bolts up and stays firm ...

          Cast metal will fracture and have a rigid look across the fractured plane.

          Hardened materials and most alloys stress and have fissures and discoloration along the brake.

            well it does look kinda broken along the edge but i just wanted to be sure. i think ill get an alt. and mount it to see how it holds up and go from there. thanks.

              It's definitely broken. Unless there is another design. This is from a 95.

                well that ends all confusion, its broke. if it wasnt so hard to get one off id go to the yard and get one. o well ill just see how things go. thanks.
