  • Power Steering Fluid Actuator switch

On my 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, I have a Power Steering Fluid Actuator Switch GM Part# 26071775. It mounts on the high pressure side of the pump line. Does anyone know what it does? Also, as I am dropping in my new motor, I can't find the wire harness that went to it. Anyone have a diagram that shows it? I can't find it on any of my wiring diagrams in my Haynes or Alldatadiy on line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

It signals the ECM to increase the idle speed when there is pressure in the power steering system, so that your motor doesn't stall when you turn the wheel at idle.

Thanks a bunch. Do you happen to know what color wires or have a wiring diagram that shows this? I can't seem to find the wiring harness that plugs into this switch.

my 95 monte had it mounted on the power steering rack on the drivers side just behind the wheel well. my 1996 harness has it at the connection at the pump like you said, i left it unhooked and didn't really notice a difference. it does feel a little heavy when im stopd but not bad.
