can these cam journals be machined for the 3900 engines since it is a custom billet? Or are the cams cut from the same blanks for the smaller journal 3x00s?

No, they are cut for the smaller journal.

why can't a call be placed to comp and have them machined for the larger 3900 journals? Same goes for the non billet. it seems to me they are cast and then machined to a certain spec. Just machine less. what am I missing?

        demand.

if enough people were to want them, a manufacturer would be willing to make them.

A billet cam is a custom part. Doesnt' "billet" mean machined from a solid piece? ok so if thats the case, then the journals should be allowed to be machined to whatever spec the customer wants no?

Also as far as demand goes, does anyone here think that Comp keeps billet blanks on the shelf for the 60 degree engine? I mean there is no demand for that so why would they? So since they don't that meets the definition of a custom part. Would you agree?
