  • LX9 Swap into 97 Trans Sport

I have a 97 Pontiac Trans Sport, and the engine has developed a rod knock with 180k on it
I have been thinking about swapping in an LX9, (I can get one with 80k for $400, vs $700 for a 3400 with 120k)
I have a few questions that I hope you can answer?
Where can I get the external trigger, and how much does it cost?
What parts need to be swapped over? I know I need to swap the upper intake and TB,coils and plug wires, and exhaust manifolds
Whats the easiest way to remove the engine? I've heard that you can pull it out through the top by taking off stuff like the alternator and exhaust manifolds

Any other advice would be appreciated

Yes, it can come out the top. I've even done it (on a 99, IIRC) with the exhaust manifolds on, but it will scrape the cowl lip a bit, so pull the weather strip. You also need the upper off if I remember right. It's been a few years since I did it.
