  • Metal permdry LIM questions

One of my 3100 Lumina cars (1999) will need some fuel injector overhaul, and I also have the 3400 intake parts already, so I may do a top end swap with the 3400 intake, etc. while I service the injectors as well. I'll keep the pre 2000 heads intact.

Question is, I was told on this site a while ago to use the pre-2000 3100 lower intake gasket and of course use the 2000+ upper gasket.

For convenience and cost considerations, the 2000+ 3100 and 3400 felpro kit (MS98003T) is what I want to order. Will that lower intake gasket work with the pre 2000 (1999) heads? I don't want to order the old kit ( MS98004T) if I don't have to.

Also, now for a more stupid question. I want to know, if it is in good condition, can the metal permdry felpro lower intake gaskets be re-used for a new intake swap if previously installed for an old intake? Or does oil contamination, etc. prevent this?

    Thanks for help.

if i recall correctly, the lower intake gasket and design is the same on the second gen and third gen 3100/3400, i say this because i compared them for shit sake while doing a LIMG job on a 99 3100, and had my 05 3400 gaskets around. you could/can reuse the lower intake gaskets providing tey are not crushed, damage, or spongy. if you got a 3400 kit you should be fine. If you want to look further into any differences check at whats listed on the wottech site.

If I bought intake gaskets for my 3.1 and ended up finding out I should buy a new motor (3.4) vs putting work into this one, am I correct in understanding that the gaskets would interchange?
