We were having too many problems with the setup. There were some regular members that were always having session errors, the emailing systems only worked for maybe half the people, notifications weren't working, the admin panel disappeared for some unknown reason...

Although we went with phpBB for the longest time (I was willing to fork over the $$ for vbulletin several years ago, but Ben didn't want it then), it finally just came down to wanting something different and that worked.

When phpbb was working, I was very happy with it. However, this setup is ben proof for adding modifications (unless you ask brad, then everything is my fault:P). My biggest concern was dial up performance, as I get to test that out when im up north, like I am now. grandamgt uses vbulletin and their site is at least 3 times longer to load according to firefox. Since we are having about the same load times as before, I couldn't think of a reason not to switch.

Also, I think people were getting sick of things not working, and our feeble attempts at changing around the phpbb system without luck. This is the last software change for a while, if not forever.

        Aah, cool.

yah, Grandamgt.com takes forever to load, their site is about the worst i've been to. www.exhaustsoundclips.com is probably the slowest tho, he's got so many mods to that board that it's all fuggled...

Is there anyway to consider all posts read when I log out, without having to read them all?

Go to the top menu bar to quick links. Second option, mark all threads read. Just do that before you leave. It will also tell you there are posts that aren't new that you haven't read below posts that are new. I just let it go for a bit so I can check threads I wanted to read before but didn't have time. I love the new setup but its not as convienent for everyone since you have to mark the threads read yourself. I am not sure if there is a setting for how long to keep track of threads if you never mark it all read.

Yeah, Ben has the same problem. Not sure why it shows up that way only on the main page. I do know 65535 is the equivalent bytes in a 64k file and the limit in the hex world (equivalent of #FFFF), so there is some meaning to it obviously. Just not sure what it is... I'll have to dig through the DB sometime and see what I can find.

Hmm... I'll have to look into it tonight. There is probably a setting somewhere for it and we never thought of turning it on. Or Ben turned it off for a reason...

Change your settings to show since the beginning, instead of 30 days or whatever.
