  • DOHC Timing section

I know this sounds stupid, but I think it should be done. There should be a section in this forum dedicated specificaly to timing. Like, there are a million posts about changing the timing belt on an LQ1. It gets kind of repetitive. Different people asking the same questions all the time. Like I know that it is really specific and it could be a million other things aswell. I mean where would you stop? But, I don't think there is ANY question that this is the biggest maintenance issue for the DOHC, especially for new owners. So, I think that a special exception should be made.

    Anyway that's my two cents.

      RE: DOHC Timing section

How about this. If someone wants to create the definitive thread on timing the DOHC, we can do that. I can pull parts from other threads for that matter. After that, I can put a new timing article on the site to cover all the questions.

I think this is a Great Idea! even though i am new to this forum, and my opinion don't mean much.

The Timing walkthrough (especially with Pix) is Great, but as a newbie and Non-Mechanic, i still find myself searching all over the other sections on the subject to find more info & knowledge.

How about just making the pic thru more visible when on the home page? Maybe have its own box promenently displayed on both the home page and the forums page. And maybe with links to some helpful threads?

Since the store hasn't officially "opened", there isn't a link to it yet. Once its fully up and running, there will be a link.

As far as making the section more visible on the home page... ?!?! You can't be serious. I think that the pushrod Hybrid topic is a bigger discussion that the timing belt, and it doesn't have its own section. That would just be stupid IMO. It took me 2 clicks to get to the area (pics and text walkthroughs). I would think the best way to do it would be to make a STUCK thread in the DOHC maintenance area. Start the thread with links to the walkthroughs. Then gather all the info that seems to be repetitive and put it in the thread. Lock the thread so it doesn't become more of a mess. If people still have questions, then they can post a new thread. Chances are though, even with that, people aren't going to want to read through everything (because most people are lazy) and they'll just ask the questions anyway.
