    Hi folks,
Just found out about this site. Looks like an amazing resource for V6-60 info. I have a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite with a 3.4 crate in it. Looking to do a few upgrades this winter. I'll do some seaching here before I inquire any further about specifix. Probably anything I've got has been already asked and answered. If anyone is curious, Third Rail can be seen at http://ntahc.org/modifiedhealeys/Pho...157Hammond.htm

Ah, the iron head We have a lot more aluminum head owners on this site so I am not sure how much info you will find from a search. Neat little car you got there though. My dad was telling me that my uncle used to have a 59, and you could move it around by hand pretty easy in the garage. If you want to reduce some weight from the front end, you could switch to the aluminum heads and intakes, though I dunno how well that would all fit in there. Better flowing heads and intakes though...but fuel injection vs carb.

That's so cool, it's scary! Is this a hobby? Or do you do it for a living?
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

Thanks - but are you kiddin me? I'd friggin' starve trying to do this for a living. Back in '00, by the time Third Rail was done enough to be put on the road (you're never actually "done"), I had accumulated about a half a car worth of mistakes in the center bay of my barn. All stuff that I tried but didn't work. It all went to scrap/recycling.

Thanks, I will probably stick with carburation. Partly because of other priorities (first off, I need to get a heavier duty rearend), I'm kind of a low-tech guy (big time investment for me just to learn all of the stuff about setting up modern FI), and in particular, I like the look of the intake system and the motor cleavage as it is now.

I saw the hood setup after I posted and figured you might stick with it

              Mmmm, motor cleavage!

Very nice car. But isn't the shifter a bit far back?

How do you figure 190hp? I'd guess it'd be up in the 160 range myself. But I also do not know what is done to it, but your headers look good

Yes, RR, the shifter is back more than I'd prefer. The trans is a BW T5 that was used in late 80s Camaros, w/fairly close ratios. I've since seen on some web sites that that T5s from S10 trucks had the shifter up about 9" forward. Perfect. But they also say S10 trans had a 4:10 first gear or something like that. So the solution would be to put the forward shifter on the close ratio box. Too much surgery for now, maybe if I have to tear some other stuff apart sometime. The tunnel piece comes out separately at least. And driving it's actually not bad. I'm only 5'8", short arms, and I don't even notice it anymore.
Aaron, 190 hp is a guess. The Goodwrench web site for the crate 3.4 says 160hp if you bolt on the stock 2bbl and cast iron exh manifolds from a stock 2.8. W/headers and the 4bbl intake, 190? I don't know really. There is no dyno shop right around here. I eventually will add roller rockers as well.
Based on other stuff I've driven, I do think it would run 13s, especially with a stronger rearend so I can put some fatter tires on it.

Yah you might be around 190, I also don't know. But even with 190, I think 13s might be a little optimistic, but good luck. My guess would be a 14.5.

Aaron. You do realize that's a tiny car, yes? Much smaller than even a J-body.
                      Weight: 1900 lb.
                      That's a good 600-800 lbs off the J-car weight.

1900...Wow I thought the S10s weighed more. But I guess with a 2wd, short bed no cab truck, sounds right. I bet grabbing traction is a BITCH with no weight on the back tires.

What is the weight on a 88 Fiero GT? becuz on a stock 200hp 3.4LTDC, they are netting 13.8-14.2 traps, not bad.

I don't know you missed the second sentence of my post at W-body. "I will get pics mid-December."

                            lol.

As for the Austin Healey, I was thinking this was the post about the S10, but now that I remember that had a 2.8 with a blower. I don't reread every thread every time I reply. I read the replies past my last.

You saw the headers (which were about halfway through all the pictures), yet you still thought it was about the blown 2.8 S-10... HAHAHA!!!
