  • Content Management System for the site for $35

Ive been thinking about the setup I was gonna use...and how much work it is to set it all up plus its not going to use the forum database for members. This however looks like a sweet solution to the issue plus full integration and more member input can be had. Let me know what you think of that software though, there are some site examples linked on there.

Well, I loaded up something else this weekend and started putting some content over to it for Ben to look at. And then I worked on transferring the forum over as well. It still has a bunch of work to be done before we can put it online (if we put it online), but you can check it out in the meantime here:

Only issue I see that MIGHT come up is you'd have to re-register to the main site, which would then automatically re-register you for the forum. I'm trying to figure out a way to transfer the current user database to the new site database, but with almost 1200 users, I don't see it being very easy...

The software this thread was started for will use the forum DB as it is supposedly. Gotta pay for it to find out though which kinda sucks.

Yeah... we were having database issues last night cause Ben called the host to try to get some stuff done. Well, they locked us out as well as the other CMSs. It should all be back up and running now.

Well, we are well on our way to getting the new site up and running. And let's just say I've learned a TON about databases and php language in the last couple of days. There is still a bunch to do, but now that I know what I need to do to make certain areas work with the way we want things setup, I think the transfer over should go relatively smoothly....

Some of the new items I think may interest some people are:
-The ability to have printer-freindly versions of everything, from the articles and info, all the way through the forum threads (I still need to adapt that over to the theme though).
-Private messaging that is board wide. Ok, not really a big deal, but I think its kinda cool.
-If I can get the module setup right, a photo gallery. Depending on space issues and whatnot, we could possibly allow people to throw up a few pictures of their cars in a single location for everyone to view.

I know there are a few other things Ben and I have discussed, but it just depends on when we will get it all working...

If you want a preview, you can check it out at http://phoenix.60degreev6.com . You can login with your current username and PW and play with your profile if you want. Everything SHOULD be the same as here, but I won't guarantee that 100%.

Oh, and feel free to leave some feedback. If you post over on the forum, it will just go away when we make the switch over....

Yup, brad has done an amazing job with this. I had tried postnuke before but the forum wasnt integrated and I wasn't about to poke around with the database and php.
