  • Downtime this week

Sometime this week (not sure which day just yet), the site will be down for several hours while I do a software upgrade. Once I figure out a good time to do it, I will give further details. I will try to give a day notice, but it may end up only being a couple hours notices, again just depending on my schedule.

Looks of good things in the upgrade, although many of the things are behind the scenes. But, I've put off upgrading for several versions as I didn't feel they were a benefit. But now I feel it is time to get the site up to date.

As with all previous upgrades, I will do some testing to ensure stuff is working as best as I can, but I often rely on the users to find other little quirks. I will mention it again once the update is complete, but if you come across something that doesn't work correctly, please inform me immediately in this thread so that I can look at it and try to find a solution ASAP.

    Thanks!

I've already had a problem with the site loading today. It actually crashed FF once. When it hung up the last time it was trying to load something from some yahoo site. It wasn't the actual www.yahoo.com address, but some address with yahoo in it.

vBulletin uses YUI (Yahoo! User Interface) javascript, so that is probably what you saw. Crazy that it crashed FF, though. They've been using YUI for years, so I doubt its anything to do with that, unless the Yahoo servers that serve the data were having issues.

Here is another one for you (why do I always seem to get the issues, lol).

I can't seem to get my phone to upload pics now. It submits them but when it gets the response back strom the server it says security error, user may not have permissions to access this feature, then gives me another error of fails to connect to forum, if this problem persists, blablabla.

If it helps, I'm choosing save to this forum (not tapatalk) and large size (5xx kb).

Ok, so its almost 2 months late, but the upgrade is finally done. Sorry for no advanced warning...

If you run across any issues, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY VIA THIS THREAD so that I can get it fixed ASAP. Thanks!

OK, there is currently an issue with the message editor not showing any icons on the default style. I am investigating it, but figured I'd get the site back up and running for everyone instead of keeping it down while I look for the issue.

Ok, for some odd reason the editor doesn't work in the default style (#107), but does work in a child style (#107-cutaway), so I have made that the default for now, until I can figure out what the issue is..

It also appears that an error message is popping up whenever you post a message, asking if you want to stay on the page, or leave the page. Click on "Leave Page" and you should be fine.

i get that on other forums too. might be some safety feature so you don't lose what you have typed. i know in the past i have gotten screwed by accidentally hitting the back button on my trackball.

ok well it's kind of weird to get it when i post but the going back to the previous page i can understand it

Ok, the issue with the #107 style has been fixed. I am still trying to figure out the issue with the Leave Page pop-up box. It really starting to annoy me...

Ok, I think I may have figured out the issue with the popup box. It does have to do with the new autosave feature, but there was another issue as well. Anyway, you may still get that message if it takes you less than 30sec. to post, as the autosave runs every 30sec (currently). I may lower that some, but we'll see...

i was getting it last night

wow, it said leave page or stay, I clicked stay, added "and it still is", hit leave, and it didn't add the part I added last. So i dunno what that is about
