    Ahh...

Well, as of right now I don't have access to the ADMIN options of the forum, so Ben will have to change that.

Man, I go away for a couple days, and you guys shut down GMForums? That's not cool.

Anyway, I would say for the time being, try to keep it simple, until we find a permanent home. Keep up the good work.

Site News and Announcements (Admin only to start topics)
General 60° V6 News (maybe just admin and moderators to start new topics, but anyone can discuss)

        Pushrod
        .....General
        .....Performance
        .....Maintenance

        DOHC
        .....General
        .....Performance
        .....Maintenance

        MISC
        .....Off Topic
        .....Transmissions
.....Computer Tuning (For Ben the computer Guru. Does it need a whole section though? Dunno)
        .....Buy/Sell/Trade (Possibly. Don't know though)
.....Race (Is this necessary? You know, like who/what you raced/killed)

As someone mentioned before, more consolidation would be better. Having too many areas gets confusing, i.e. iron head, aluminum head, 3x00, 2.8/3.1/3.4 etc. So all pushrods in one spot, and all DOHC in one spot. It would possibly be easier to get help simply because having everything in a minimum of sections increases exposure and the possibility to get help.

As for the 3.6 DOHC. I think it needs to remain a part of the DOHC area, rather than having its own section. This could be both good and bad. Bad in the short term because discussion about this motor is so few and far between that topics about it will get lost in the multitude of 3.4 stuff. But it's good because as mentioned before, everything having its own area gets confusing and bothersome. Personally, I don't like having to browse through 25 different sections. I get tired after visiting just a couple of sections, and I can't believe that I would be unique in this aspect. So in that light, assuming others do that too, this shortens the amount of help people can get, since people get bored/annoyed/tired after a few forums and simply stop going to all of them.

So anyways. Just a thought or two. It's pretty cool though that we get our own forum now, though a FORUM WIDE WARNING AT GMF would have been nice. Like one topic that transcends the divisions of forums and gets posted in all of them simultaneously-I've seen other BBs with this ability.

Once I get a job or my next financial aid check, I'd gladly contribute.

I think a section for trannys is a good idea. You could even split it up into each tranny, like 4T60, 4T60E, Getrag 282, and Getrag 284 (Im sure I forgot one). Or just split up b/n auto and manual. The computer tuning is good too. Swaps, For Sale/Wanted To Buy, a "Whatever" section too. Just my thoughts

I'm with the other four on the idea to consolidate gen 1,2,3 pushrod into general "performance, maintenance, general" I also think a racing section, to keep posts like that out of other sections.....and an "off topic" for Chris's gay quizzes,....and an ebay/for sale section. Hell just make it like the old forum, with the pushrod section consolidated, dont worry about the resident engineer!

We didnt shut down GMF nor was I given any warning.

I have made changes to the layout, and I will work on the actual look of the site so it matches our site. I still don't know about getting our database or how it would be integrated. Cross your fingers.

As for my comment, yeah I know you guys in the 60° section didn't have anything to do with shutting down GMF, my comment was aimed at LunaticSS (unless it wasn't his fault this time). I rarely read outside the 60° section so I missed if there was an announcement. As I said, a forum wide announcement topic would have been much appreciated.

PS: WOOT! I see the Misc section, with the addition of boost, is just how I suggested I R THE 1337

There was no warning at all. It took place in the hidden mod/admin forum. I was browsing GMF at 2am and 3 minutes later it was shut down. Low-life power-hungry wanna-be upper-management shmuck!! Get a real job!

                      keep it all simple.

Pushrods, peformance and a Genral, maybe keep maintenece lumped in with genral?

DOHC same as pushrod for separation.

                      transmission -all transmissions.

                      computer tuning?

                      boost?

its funny i was a mod on GM forum and i didnt even know about the whole MOD area untill i read the post that killed teh site.. LOL. WTF is up with those of us that were mods having to try and create more traffic? odd...

I guess the TH125C/3T40 aswell as the 4T40-E and 4T45-E would apply for automatic transmissions aswell; did they ever use the 4T65-E with the V6/60 (like in the impalas, etc..).... and also the old muncie 4spd manual...

not that all that makes too much a difference, However, this colour scheme is practically IMPOSSIBLE to read some items (with the white text on a grey background!)

Oh, and can't forget the section for our Resident Engineer =)

First thing you need to change is the default color!

Dude the default colors are horrible! I struggled bad just to read where to click. Of course I changed my screen once I registered, but some people are going to be distracted from signing up with the intimidating default (white letters!) screen. Just a thought. I aslo vote to keep it super simple for awhile. Your going to have to quickly establish a suspscription for people who wish to donate, because as it grow the bandwidth will cost you. Manage it right and you guys will be just fine. Also if you have not decided 100% on this forum check out my ib forums(free) on my site http://614streets.com/ibforums.com , the software is all that is free , but if you have space on a server and can upload it yadda yadda yadda.

Glad to see we are getting a decent amount of people back. 30 users in less than 24hrs, along with 75 posts is pretty decent in my book! We still have a way to go to get back to the 31,000+ posts we did have though...

I'm not sure I want to put up with the hassle of the ENGINEER area again... it started off as a joke was was only supposed to last a couple days, and next thing I knew, it was there permanently.

Guess I'll have to check out some of these other themes....
