  • new forum...for now or permanent I dunno

GMForums is gone, so we have to get our own forum setup. This is going to cost more so a means to pay for this will have to be addressed later. Right now, I want to know what layout we should use.

    Pushrod
    DOHC
    General
    Offtopic

So Pushrod and DOHC are gonna be seperated for obvious reasons. DOHC I assume will have Performance, Maintenance, General. Anything else?

Pushrods. Gen 1 2 3? Iron Head/Gen 2 Alum, gen 3 Alum/ or just keep all the pushrods together and have Performance, Maintenance, and General just as the DOHC has now.

    Off Topic, For Sale/Trade/Auctions...what else?

It should be simple yet organized. I can add a Swap section as well for any and all swaps, pushrod and DOHC.

I just need some feedback cause I wanna do this once.

I kinda like how we used to have it, but I also think that it seperated it too much. So I personally like the idea of DOHC and PUSHROD, then each seperated into PERF, MAINT and GENERAL. It was hard to sometimes figure out which section a particular post was supposed to go into, especially when it got into the Hybrid engines. So I think just a single PUSHROD area will probably be the best. Most people that visited the pushrod area visited all of the sections anyway, so why not just put them all together.

As far as everything else... we could have a GENERAL section, then split that into ON-TOPIC, OFF-TOPIC, RACING and FOR SALE. As for the swaps... I dunno where to put it, but I think it might be a good idea.

      Ben,

I guess something around the colors that Brian did for the W-body database would suffice....... It suxs that you have to do all this work.

Not to sound like an ass, but why would we divide the pushrod section into V6 and 4-cyl when this is a 60* V6 forum?

I like the idea of throwing the pushrods all together and then having general/maintenance/performance..etc...basically saying I like bzopi's idea

I was thinking in terms of GP's in general .. They used Quad4's in 90-91... Not sure if the other W-bodies used them... Ohhh well 60 V6... I guess we can leave out the 4's...

Olds Had them also, since it was an Olds engine.

                      Back on topic please!

Ok, first of all... we aren't here to discuss what cars had 4-cylinders... We are trying to rebuild a forum. So please keep this thread to only discussions about what we can do to make the forum user freindly.

A guest mentioned DIY-EFI... that brings up a good point, kinda. We need to get the COMPUTER TUNING section back up, and might as well get a BOOST section as well. Just trying to remember what kind of sections we had that were USEFUL on the old forums...

Has anyone looked into a free forum host/program?
Just curious I don't mind dealing with ads to cost you less.

The 3500 is just a pushrod, so it can go in the pushrod section. Maybe you are thinking of the 3.6 DOHC? Yes, we may need to make an area for that as well...

No I just noticed that you had every engine named up above besided the 3500...
