  • Pushrod Location

Pushrods are valve specific on all Gen 2 and newer pushrod motors. The following are when you are standing in front of the radiator, looking at the engine.

In a FWD configuration the order for the rear head from left to right is Exhaust, Intake, Exhaust, Intake, Intake, Exhaust. The front head from left to right is Exhaust, Intake, Exhaust, Intake, Intake, Exhaust.

If you are working with a RWD configuration, the left head from front to back is Exhaust, Intake, Exhaust, Intake, Intake, Exhaust. The right head is Exhaust, Intake, Intake, Exhaust, Intake, Exhaust.

Are there any exceptions to this rule? Because i just put a 95 3100 back together (HG and LIM gasket), and used this as a guide because i accidentally mixed up 2 of the pushrods. Now it wont start and has a bacfire through the intake. I have checked and rechecked the plug wires and they are correct so it has to be the pushrod placement.
