Ok guys here it goes....... I started a job with replacing the intake manifold gaskets on my 2.8l v6. I had to remove the rocker arms so that i can remove the push rods out of the way of the gasket. Now I put the intake back on the block right. I then moved to put the rocker arms back in place and tighten down the retaining nut. Due to the fact that I had no idea how I decided to use autozone.com's instructions which told me to torque the nuts that hold the rocker arms down to 22 ft pounds. Well I did it. Thinking that is already to go I put the valve covers back on. I then proceeded to start the car. It didnt sound like it did before I did this job. I sat there trying to start it and BANG the sound came from some where in the egine compartment. I bent all the pushrods some where bent to 45 degree angel at the lifter side. After doing some research I found out the rocker arm bolts were way to tight. I bought some new ones. So I then proceeded to adjust them according to the proper spes for the 2.8l. Now there I put everything back together and try to start it and with no luck still sounds the same. The crank and the cam are moving but no luck. Any ideas guys any thing will help please this is my first car I ever owned.

Sounds like you mixed up pushrods. The intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths, exhaust pushrods are longer. If you mixed them up, and put exhaust in the intake spots, then your pistons and valves probably high five'd each other. Giving you bent pushrods/valves. I don't think 22 ft-lb is not way too much either.
When you re-tightened everythign, did you replace the pushrods? If you did, could be bent valves. If not, try replacing pushrods and praying that that the valves are ok and try again.
