What about the 3.1 TBI that was in the minivans and Izuzu(sp)? Any info on them? Do they have iron or aluminum heads?

Well no kidding... But what about the ones lasting to 1995 and using TBI?

So I gotta add that when did the Lumina APV start and stop production?

Ok so latest update includes the weird ass APV and also info on the Troopers. They got a 3.1L instead of a 2.8L in 1990 and they used a block with the starter on the drivers side but the same engine mounts as a raditional RWD motor... Is it possible the luminal also used a RWD style block... I also want to know about the Fiero did it use a RWD or FWD block? I know it had MPFI

What I ment to say was did the lumina use a block with RWD mounting locations but the starter on the even number cylinder side (drivers side) like the Isuzu did. It may be this way since these were the only 2 vehicles to EVER use a 3.1L TBI engine.

the Lumina van is a 3.1 TBI, then it should have the 3T40 (aka TH125-C)

The lumina vans do however have the typical Gen 2 style timing cover...

As a proud owner of a 1990 Pontiac Transport, I can shed a little light on this one I hope.
It's FWD with iron heads, distributor, TBI, T125 tranny, and from what I can tell is the exact same block as what a Lumina car would've got, just with the Camaro style 3.1 pistons I'm guessing. I know the passenger side motor mount is the style that mounts on the subframe if that explains anymore. I'll take a closer look at it later tonight, and get some pics of the mounts if anyone wants to see them.
Also, on the very early 2.8 FWDs, they had seperate V belt driven accessories, such as water pump, P/S and A/C. There was a Century or something like that at the wreckers a while ago that I was looking over rather closely. The intake on that car looked almost identical to a RWD camaro 2.8 MPFI. Something like a Fiero intake.

Yeah, and those older ones had the waterpump like on all the RWD engines (center of the timing cover), and the HUGE Delcotron alternator (CS144 size)
