Anybody know of any notorious problems with the 3.1 (3100) motor? And what years effected? I heard the 3.4 DOHC was known for leaking intake manifold gasket. Any Help Would Help!

most of the problems that I have seen with the 3x00 (meaning 3100 or 3400, take your pick in either application) have been the lower intake manifold gaskets on the 1996 and newer ones (the DEXCOOL cars).
I have not had any problems with the gatorback belts (I had one on the pink car before it got totalled).
With the bosch plugs, in my 1988 Cutlass, I burned the platinum right out of them, and on all of my other cars, they ended up causing a misfire problem. I now only use Delco Rapidfires.
The only other thing I can think of are leaking oil pump drive seals.Taylor
