  • Milzy Stage 2 dyno

3400 5 speed Cavalier. Milzy stage 2 cam that still has tuning issues.
Self ported heads & intakes, LS6 springs, 3500 UIM, 65mm TB.
Was running lean but my emulator didn't like it when I tried to richen
it up on the dyno, so I know it has quite a bit more in her. Exploded the clutch
at the track that night on the 3-4 shift on what might have been a
    13 second run.

    228.6 HP @ 5500 RPM
    227 lb/ft @ 4500 RPM

wow jason that clutch looks crazy

i forgot to ask when we spoke at the bash

some people on here told me that i should eliminate knock retard and everything from my chip, like a guy said he actually deleted all that from his chip.

i don't see that as being very smart tho. curious on what you think

this week i should have the chip and everything in so i'll let u know how it turns out

Those are some pretty nice numbers. Sounds like it is definately making massive power, I think that clutch would agree.

      14.60 @ 96.33 for now...

          Are you running headers?

I think these engines can run 300 hp @ flywheel. A calculation I used said the heads flow numbers would support it stock.

That was what I beleive to be the stock clutch with 150,000 miles on it.

I had been running the Bully stage 2 since I did the 3400 swap & put about 10,000 miles on that. It held great, but would never disengage right. I got sick of not being able to shift & decided to try the stock clutch, which shifted great but only held for about 500 miles before what you see here happened...

weird that even with a stage 2 cam, you are still peaking at only 5500. i would have thought that with 220 duration + (or is this not correct) that you would havew power peak somewhere around the 6500 mark not 5500.

Well, I only pulled to 6200 RPM because of how lean it was going (A/F was up to 13.65 when I shut it down!).
I'm sure once I have more time to work with the tuning & get more fuel up there, it will start pulling harder all the way up.

By the way, what is a safe rev limit with this setup?

Nice Numbers, wish i could have seen it in person..... oh wait i did

I think it's either time for bigger injectors and an AFPR... or aftermarket ECU... or both

with the milzy stage 1 cam, i try to go for 7000 but it peters out around 6500.

apparently stock rods can take 7000. so givver.

nice numbers! I just gotta ask what are the basic specs of that cam you're running? You and I have a very similar engine setup. My cam was a custom regrind from Comp.

Ill have all the cam specs as soon as I get the stage 2 cam and put it in this motor. I know what specs they are supposed to be but I want the ramp up rate as well.

I wouldn't do that, because if it is real knock, then you could be in trouble real quick. You could try it to see what happens if you're just getting knock at low loads, but I wouldn't keep it disabled.

The Milzy stage 2 cam specs are:

With the Milzy set up be careful with timing!! Don't go over 29* at WOT. Just a waste if you do. Get that AFR down to 12.5 or even 13. RPM should not go over 6500 on the shifts, but again the dyno tells you that. Where it hits the highest point in hp, that's your shift point. Also you want those #'s for "all shifts" so shifts in any gear will be correct. I am running a Milzy stage II set up with all the extras and have been tuning this since March and still am not done. One thing I found this week was the issue with the MAF. Even a factory MAF needs to be adjusted after this set up. Changing how the motor deals with air will make the graph kinda screwy...Mine had to be reduced by 2% three time to get things happy again. My wide band should be here soon then I can get this right once and for all!!!!!!!

Yeah, I've been working on this since March as well

Tuning this cam with MAP is real fun...

Have you experienced any knock retard issues with your setup? Part throttle is giving me nothing but headaches.
