  • Installed SS headers

Well i finaly got my headers installed. I used the flange, i did not have to cut it off, and i still have reasonable clearence. The only major issue i came across was getting a trans dip tube to fit around the headers. I had to bend my stock one up real bad to make it kinda fit. The car deffinately runs stronger in the mid to high range. I did have to modify my heat shields with a ginder, but things fit decently for the most part.

BTW manitcor, what did you do for a dipstick?

i would have a look around the junkyard for other cars with the 4t60e and see if you can find a dipstick and tube that will work better for you. every motor uses a different tube, so im guessing you will be able to find something that will work.

Maybe something like this would work for you?

does anyone know if the end of one of those flex dipsticks for a 350-400 trans would fit in the 4t60-e?

well, i know that all gm transmissions use the same filler tube boot, so id venture to say that, yes, a 360 flexible dipstick should work just fine.

congrats, lucky you on the flange, I guess thats just some of those slight differences between the bodies, there was simply not enough clearance on my '95 MC.

I had less trouble with the dipstick than you did, I didnt have to bend it really at all though it did tend to rest on the header. Perhaps a monte dipstick is the awnser?

If you havent done it already, get larger injectors and a PCM tune to match your new flow requirments, your topend will really open up alot and youll be abble to take full advantage of the headers.

                Enjoy.
