idk much about systems and stuff but my buddy has a system in his camaro and he needed a higher amp alt because everytime it hit the lights would dim.
i dont think i've heard of boosting the volatge
but like i said idk systems or crap liek tahtsigpic

I think the alternator plugs changed between 98 and 99. It's the reason why those doing an old 3100 to 3400 swap have to use the 3100 alternator.
It's hard to see why 0.6-1.2v would do any good. Ignition systems are supposed to be effective until the overall voltage drops below 7v or so. Stock fuel pumps are pretty good until you start aiming at serious power and even then there are better options. The last gen. GA's did have issues with lights dimming while braking due to all the bulbs GM decided to use in their taillights.
One bad thing I can see however is that with higher voltages all your electronics will run hotter and therefore, live shorter lives. I can understand using the stage 1 kit if your using an underdrive pulley though.1995 Grand Am SE

actually running more voltage reduces the need for the amount of amps to do the same work. it'll actually run cooler due to it requiring less amps. its why cars may go to much higher volts. its more efficient

My headlights dim to all of the brake lights I have (stock ones plus third and a fourth brake light), which is why I looked at this to start with.SpudFiles

Ok, a few things.. the Sony and the Rockford (this isn't fosgate, this is that cheap stuff) have a protection circuit, they get to many volts and their amps start doing funny things and bad things after a long period. It depends on if it is a Class A or B, MOSFET or Class D amp. the first two more volts are better, MOSFET wont care much except how loudly the amp peaks, and Class Ds will see danger when the voltage gets too high.
This should effectively raise the voltage for whatever it is designed for, but you are going to give up quite a bit of horsepower to have that alternator turn that much harder and longer. so if you are after more HP, not a good way to go. If you are after a big stereo system, go spend the money on a Yellow top Optima battery, some long thick cable for the positive, short for the negative and a battery isolator... you will have a ton more reserve and not constantly have your altenator running.
So the biggest question is WHY do you want more voltage??2014 Chevy Cruise LT
